Who May Apply?
Applications are welcomed from appropriately trained professionals working within one or more of the professional fields recognised by the IPR.
Requirements differ according to the Professional Board, professional category and level of registration being applied for.
Standard Application Requirements
Applicants may be required to provide:
- completed application form;
- proof of identity;
- professional photograph;
- curriculum vitae or professional résumé;
- copies of relevant qualifications;
- certificates of professional training;
- academic transcripts where applicable;
- course syllabus or curriculum information where required;
- evidence of practical training;
- evidence of supervised practice where applicable;
- evidence of professional experience;
- references or professional endorsements where required;
- evidence of current statutory registration where applicable;
- evidence of professional indemnity insurance where appropriate;
- declaration of criminal convictions or disciplinary findings where applicable;
- declaration regarding previous professional complaints or sanctions;
- agreement to the IPR Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct;
- agreement to the Professional Standards;
- commitment to continuing professional development;
- commitment to practise only within the professional's competence;
- acknowledgement of applicable local laws and regulatory requirements; and
- payment of the applicable registration fee.
Qualification Verification
The IPR may contact educational institutions, certification bodies, professional bodies or training providers to verify qualifications submitted as part of an application.
Applicants may be requested to provide additional information where the scope, duration, learning outcomes or assessment requirements of a qualification cannot readily be established.
International Qualifications
Qualifications obtained in any country may be considered.
The IPR recognises that education systems, qualification frameworks and professional titles differ considerably between jurisdictions.
International qualifications are therefore assessed according to factors including:
- level of study;
- duration;
- learning hours;
- curriculum;
- assessment;
- practical application;
- supervised practice;
- professional competencies;
- awarding institution;
- external accreditation or recognition where applicable; and
- relevance to the requested professional registration category.
Acceptance of a qualification by IPR does not constitute equivalence to a government-regulated academic or professional qualification unless such equivalence has been formally established by the appropriate authority.
